When Billy Broke His Head…and Other Tales of Wonder

Thematic A World Without Limits Curated by Leroy T. Walker and Nancy Buirski

“This ain’t exactly your inspirational cripple story,” says Billy. Billy suffers from brain damage after being rear-ended by a car while riding his motor scooter. Billy, as he says, isn’t “tragic or brave,” or “cute and inspirational.” He is angry, like many of America’s 43 million disabled people. And like 76% of this minority, Billy is not able to find a job because of his handicap, despite a Masters degree and other impressive credentials acquired before his accident. In this film, one witnesses Billy’s fight to be treated like a normal person, instead of a disabled body with a government number.
