The Last Mogul: Life and Times of Lew Wasserman

NEW DOCS

The son of Jewish immigrants from Russia, Lew Wasserman grew up in a tough Cleveland neighborhood, started his show business career as an usher in a vaudeville house, came to Hollywood as a talent agent with only two clients (Hattie McDaniel and Ronald Reagan) and went on to become one of the most powerful men in movies and television as head of MCA/Universal. This extensively researched profile boasts a wealth of striking photos and archival footage, as well as revealing interviews with Michael Ovitz, Robert Evans, Sydney Pollack, Jimmy Carter and many others. It traces Wasserman’s 50-year career (who died in 2002 at the age of 89) and also serves as an intriguing history of the entertainment business in general.  TL
