God Knows Where I Am

NEW DOCS

After one of the coldest winters on record, a woman named Linda Bishop is found dead in a vacant New Hampshire farmhouse. Alongside her body lies a diary, whose pages shed light on the mysterious circumstances that led to her demise. Directors Todd and Jedd Wider lace together varied perspectives and move through time to depict Bishop’s final days, using her journal entries to capture the intimate thoughts of a woman deep in the throes of mental illness. For nearly four months, Bishop survived on apples and rainwater as she waited for God to save her from herself. Through careful photography and sound design, the farmhouse becomes an evocative character in its own right, contributing to our growing sense of unease as the months pass. This gripping and emotional film illuminates the failures of our mental health system and makes visceral the experiences of a woman trapped in her own mind.  TD
