Crannog

NEW DOCS

Believing that no being should have to die alone, a young woman creates a hospice for animals where an assortment of chickens, sheep, pigs, and other creatures spend their final days. The grounds are a mix of strewn hay and muddy pastures, but the true essence of this place is its caretaker’s seemingly boundless compassion. When a new patient arrives, a sheep who has lost the ability to walk, we see the lengths to which she will go to offer support and relief. Under the amber glow of barn lights, her presence and warm embrace may be the greatest comfort of all. She speaks frankly about her unyielding commitment as we observe her carrying out her chores, and we come to appreciate her deep personal attachment to this consuming work. In capturing her story, Crannog quietly examines how we face the end of life and the difference kindness can make.  ST
