All We Carry

NEW DOCS

All We Carry follows young parents Magdiel and Mirna and their son, Joshua, as they flee horrific violence in their home country of Honduras. They endure a dangerous migration across Mexico in cargo trains to claim asylum at the U.S. border, only to be separated when Magdiel is detained. When he is eventually able to join his family in Seattle, they are without jobs or housing and are told that it will be two years before they can be given an asylum hearing. A local synagogue offers to sponsor the family, providing a home, employment, and an unexpected source of community, connection, and cultural exchange. Told through intimate vérité camera work, All We Carry centers the refugee experience in a moving, compassionate portrait of a family who find strength, resilience, and hope in the most challenging of circumstances.
