Love Machina

Invited

Early in director Peter Sillen’s exploratory observation, Bina and Martine Rothblatt recount how they fell in love. Married for more than 40 years, they remain smitten with each other, earnestly sharing a desire to live forever so that their love will never die. Together, they create Bina48, an AI-powered robotic bust with full access to Bina’s “mind file”—a digital composite of years of taped interviews and memories. leveraging AI to preserve their coexistence is just one step they take among many, including cryogenics and spacecasting (a way of giving your mind file/uploaded consciousness techno immortality). As the film progresses, we see that the couple has the means (Martine created SiriusXM satellite radio) and the tenacity (they founded a biotech company to help their daughter when she was diagnosed with a rare and fatal disease) to pursue their goal no matter the cost.
